Hi, Iā€™m Xuefei Gao.

I am from UCSB and I am a senior year student who studies environmental science. Geography is my interest and I choose it as a minor. I like maps and I am interested in drawing maps since I was young. As a result I want to learn more about GIS.

In this class, I learned about GIS by using R. The knowledge to build data frames and to analyze the data by using tables and plots can also help me in other fields like botany. For example,if I want to summarize the distribution of a kind of plant, I can use the skill I learned in lab 04 which teaches geometry simplication. I can easily and directly know from a map which shows the distribution in the country based on existed data.
